Built-in Cabinetry

Presented here is an overview of the various built-in cabinetry projects I have been commissioned to make, from a single bookcase for an odd wall to a complete wall to wall, floor to ceiling cabinetry system.  All the work is produced in my shop with minimal site work.  Built-in projects usually require that function determines the form, but I always design a project mindful of the existing decor and furnishings of the room aiming to make the project appear as if it had always been there.

This illustrates a furniture style kitchen I made for a wonderful 18th century stone farmhouse in Pennsylvania.  The kitchen was designed by the customer efficiently using the room's limited wall space.  The material is poplar with pewter hinges, maple knobs and curly maple surfaces on the hutches.

Shown here is a painted pine corner cabinet designed and built for a very odd wall in an 1820 Federalist.  The close-up photo shows the pleasing beading detail made by a wooden molding plane older than the house.

This painted poplar window seat bench maximizes storage space.  The seat has a drawer underneath and is joined with a pair of small cabinets built over two electric heaters.

Shown is an open TV cabinet designed for this tight space using the customer's comments and rough sketch as my guideline.
